For beginner guitar players, finding easy songs to play can boost your confidence (after you learn them, of course). Don’t set yourself up for failure by trying to play the most complicated music at first. Try to find a song that uses three chords and master that song before you start feeling frustrated about being a beginner at playing guitar. Learn the song first by just strumming it. Later, after you learn to play it that way you could add bass runs or any kind of riffs of the melody.

Some suggested easy guitar songs (I’ll be adding chords and lyrics to some of these soon):

Nowhere Man – The Beatles (or most of the early Beatle’s songs)

Eleanor Rigby – The Beatles

As Tears Go By – The Rolling Stones

Old Man – Neil Young

Harvest Moon – Neil Young

Folsom Prison Blues / Your Cheating Heart

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face – Coldplay

Friend Of The Devil – The Grateful Dead

House of the Risin’ Sun – (as performed by Bob Dylan or The Animals)

It’s Too Late – Carole King

More Guitar Songs – For Intermediate and Advanced Guitar Players:

California Dreaming – by the Mamas and the Papas

Same Old Lang Syne – by Dan Fogelberg

We are in the process of adding the lyrics and chords to many of these easy guitar songs, so come back and check for these and more.

Easy Guitar Songs – As Tears Go By

Posted by: admin   in Easy Guitar Songs

This song – As Tears Go By, written by the Rolling Stones –  is easy enough to learn, since it only uses five basic chords. Since the song doesn’t use a fast tempo, you shouldn’t have too much trouble playing this. And there are no quicky chord changes, which also makes it an easy guitar song for a beginner. (Shown below are the lyrics and these chords: G, C, A, D and Em.)

Stand By Me – Awesome Video

Posted by: admin   in Guitar Videos & Tutorials

Playing For Change | Song Around The World “Stand By Me” from Concord Music Group on Vimeo.

This is one of the most amazing examples of  engineering work I think I have ever seen or heard.  It is a combination of videos and audio of many musicians around the world singing the song “Stand by Me”.  The finished product is tremendous!
The song itself is that classic standard “Stand By Me” originally released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters.

This is from the award-winning documentary, “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music”, comes the first of many “songs around the world” being released independently. Featured is a cover of the Ben E. King classic by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it traveled the globe. This video and “Don’t Worry” are available now at iTunes. Other songs such as “One Love” will be released as digital downloads soon, followed by the film soundtrack and DVD in stores on 4.28.09.
